Great post Kent. Your recent Kerouac posts have made me revisit On The Road and then read Dharma Bums for the first time. Loved both, but have been quietly sitting here for the last few weeks with similar thoughts of how "jerky" those beloved authors actually were. Now, Jack (Sal) gets a bit of a break due to sharing the stage with Neal (Dean) in On the Road, where the jerkness is relative. Neal certainly sounds like a Grade-A, 100% Certified, J.E.R.K.... but man, did he love livin' life. Anyways, it's been fun dipping back into the Beats thanks to your posts. I've also pulled out my scroll contraption for my typewriter and will continue to fine tune it; however, my attention span doesn't much allow for "scrolling".
