Here in the UK bikes are pedal assist (no throttle) and limited to 15.5mph. They feel very much like a bicycle with a strong tailwind. I agree - they have a place, and I use mine to run errands that might be a bit of an effort by "acoustic" bicycle, and thereby save a car journey. But I wouldn't be without my un-assisted bikes for their enjoyment and simplicity. It's about the right tool for the job.
