  2. Fabric glued may be what it was - working on a busy desk, can be handy to tilt the machine onto its back.
    Wrt those tabs, on many machines where these are separate pieces, am actually always amazed when these are still present on a 80 year old machine! :-)
    (My Champion also lost all its tabs - but still has the Tab-key to trick unsuspecting users that think they press the backspace!)
