The narrative of the planes (ie of armour not being needed where the returning planes were damaged) is a familiar one. However, one did not apply it to human lives. Interesting to see it done here. It can be applied to situations repeatedly faced by one person as well. By the by, the poem and the example of the planes are contrary to each other, in one way : In the case of the minnows, the successful ones are the ones that never come back, whereas in the example of the planes, the successful ones are those that came back, and the effort was to make more planes come back safely.
