It seems to me that Richard got high quite often in his own particular way. While I personally couldn’t pull off the Mach 5 look, my young self would have loved that car. Even as a lifelong gearhead that has enjoyed my fair share of bicycles, motorcycles, and automobiles, I still love walking and greatly appreciate walkable neighborhoods, especially as I’m riding & driving less and less frequently these days. It sounds like you and your wife certainly chose well when picking out your current abode.
Almost everything most people do, I bet, is within a few miles. Bicycles would be such a great solution. I do wish we could make the roads more bicycle friendly.
