"Standardized" Parts

  1. I remember being a child working on my own bikes and those of my friends back when money was tight. Cheap, homemade shims were incredibly handy solutions when dealing with mismatched bars and stems (or what we called goosenecks back then). These days I'm fortunate to own a number of bicycle-specific tools and a nice stand for working on bikes, but perhaps the thing I benefit from most of all is patience. That was in very short supply when I was younger.
