Oakland, Maxwell Park, is hilly, much like North Berkeley and Berkeley Hills. But there are FLAT parts of Berkeley. And the Berkeley Marina is set up to ride the perimeter of the East Bay overlooking spectacular views of the Bay Bridge and the SF cityscape. You can also ride on to the Bay Bridge as far as Yerba Buena Island. It is possible to take or walk a bike to flatter terrain. And there are hundreds of bike friendly paths. Wear a helmet of course.
