Yeah, AWS is huge. Amazon's public-facing commerce site could go away entirely, and they'd still be one of the biggest corporations in the world.
I approve of your avoidance of Amazon as a bookseller. My own practice is to buy books from local bookstores, Alibris, Biblio, and publishers. I use Amazon's lists feature to note the books I want to read, and consult it when I'm shopping elsewhere.
